I have lifted for 4 months straight now and have heard it's good to take a week off is this true if so can i still do cardio and take my regular protein drink?

The protein is used to rebuild torn muscle fibers. So if you are not working out to the extent of tearing fibers the protein shake is kinda pointless. the week off is to give your muscles a time to fully heal, and yes it is a very good idea to do 4 months then a week. the cardio along with the protein shake will make sure that the unused protein doesnt go straight to fat so its basically up to you.
