there is a port on fuel rail around the intake // push in on needle valve with a pocket screwdriver and wrap /hold a shop rag around it to see it any air bleeds out//it has to have a certain amount of fuel pressure there needs to be checked with a guage some have as much as 40 to 45 psi. if not correct fuel pressure may have damaged fuel pump..also check fuel filter if it has not been changed recently!!!!!

Why causes a car to start only when turning the key and stepping on the gas at the same time?

The engines used, by Ford, for their Mustangs made before 1985 were carburetted. An engine with a carburettor needs to be primed (like a lawn mower) before you can start it, because it does not have an electric fuel pump. You prime the engine by pressing the accelerator, while you are starting it, which sprays gasoline into the intake, and allows the engine to start. Mustangs made after 1985 had fuel injection. On a fuel injected engine, an electric pump, in the tank, pumps gasoline into the engine, as soon as you turn the key. If you have to have to pump the accelerator on fuel injected vehicle, then that could mean that one of the injectors is sticking open and flooding the engine with fuel. By pumping the pedal, you are opening the intake and allowing more air into the mixture, which allows it to ignite.

What is the diesel leak off for on an injector?

The diesel leak off is for getting air out of the system should you run out of fuel. It is very difficult to get the diesel engine restarted after running out of fuel as compared to a gasoline engine which is relatively easy. Once you have run your diesel out of fuel, the injectors must be primed for you to have even a chance of getting restarted. So, VW/ Mercedes owners, keep that tank about a quarter.
