Looking At The Thermostat You Will See A Spring Around A Copper Piece The Copper And Spring Side Go Toward The Engine. The Other Side Is Mostly Flat This Side Goes Toward The Radiator.
i believe this holds true for any engine... not sure about chevys reverse cooled corvettes and gmc's reverse cooled trucks tho
You can find the 1997 Nissan Maxima thermostat on the front of the engine. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. There is a plastic housing held on with three screws that should be T30 torx screws. The t-stat is under that housing.
