Check that all the wires are hooked up properly and plugged in, as well as make sure your power is on on the monitor as you never have to touch that button for powering on/off with the computer you turn it on and leave it on - the moniter should also do a self test. If that don't work your monitor might be shot but always get a second opinion and someone to look at it just incase.

What will happen if you unplug a VGA cord from the back of the monitor. Will it mess up my computer or anything?

It will not affect the computer, but the monitor will stop displaying what the computer tells it to because that is the cord that carries the images to the monitor.

How long does it take to replace a computer monitor?

Replacing a computer monitor should take less than 10 minutes. First shut off the computer. Unscrew and unplug the (blue or white) video cable for the monitor from the back of the computer, and unplug the monitor power cable. Then remove the old monitor from the desk, replace with the new monitor, and plug it into the video and power plugs. Start your computer and once it has started, adjust the resolution and refresh rate to match the specifications for your monitor.

Why does the monitor did not open where is the problem?

If it has been working normally before this--no black border--then the monitor may have become unplugged from the computer. Shut down the computer. Unplug and then replug in all of the connecting wires, make sure the On button on the monitor is on. Image should be there when you turn the computer back on. If this doesn't work, try hooking the monitor up to another computer. If you have the same issue, the problem is the monitor. If not, the first computer is the problem.

Why is an monitor an output device?

A computer monitor is an output device because it doesn't send data back to the computer. It only receives data and displays it. A disk in the computer does send data back as well as displays it, so it is considered both an input and output device.

Does a monitor have control over what goes on inside a computer?

This depends on what computer and what monitor we are talking about. Back in the old days the monitor had no two way contact withthe comuter and controlled nothing. More current Monitors are plug and play so the monitor tells the computer what it is and how to talk to it. So to a very limited extent, yes. Then the touch screen monitors that are common now do control what happens inside the computer.

Why does my LCD monitor plug doesn't fit the back plugs of my Gateway 450 MHz computer?

Without seeing either of them, a good assumption is that you are using a monitor with a newer DVI input as opposed to a VGA input. You can purchase an adapter to connect the monitor to the older computer.

Before entering to CMOS setup my computer re-starts and always re-starting.?

Pull everything out of the slots and disconnect everything from the back except the keyboard and mouse. If the problem still occurs, disconnect the disk drive. If it STILL occurs, you have either a motherboard or a power supply problem. If you can get the computer to boot without shutting down, start adding the peripherals back, one at a time and see when the problem comes back.
