Hard shifting is caused by improper clutch cable adjustment or worn clutch plates. To adjust the clutch cable, loosen the locking nut at the hand grip and turn the adjustment screw outward, away from the end of the handle grip. Tighten the locknut, take the bike for a spin. If the clutch slips, back the adjusting screw to a closer position to the end of the handlegrip. If it is hard shifting again, probably the clutch is worn and needs replacing.
