You don't say how old you are - if you're still at school, have a look in the Yellow Pages and note down the numbers of some local surgeries. Then, when time for Work Experience comes round, approach them and ask if they ever take on Work Experience students. Don't let your school arrange it for you, because they always mess it up and will send you to work in some other job involving animals - probably a butcher's shop, which is what they tried to fob me off with 20 years ago. I found a surgery in Epping that was willing to take me on, did a fortnight's work and they then invited me back to work part-time for money during the school holidays.

Becoming a vet is very hard work. To do it, you'll need virtually perfect results in your GCSEs and A-Levels, plus you'll then face seven years at university (compared to five for doctors). However, if you get the results and stick at it, it's undoubtedly one of the most rewarding careers anyone could ever hope for.
