I think by "poke", you mean have sexual intercourse. If that's the case, then you need to take this issue very serious. Sex is not a game. Sexual intercourse is a serious union between two individuals and can lead to some serious stuff. If you're not careful, there is the possibility of getting a girl pregnant or contracting a sexually transmitted disease. And there's always the possibility of you or her becoming so emotionally involved because of the sex that it would be very hurtful if the relationship ended. So, if you're wanting to simply have sex with your friend, you might think twice before approaching her. The consequences could be overwhelming.

No it is not cool to poke a girl. Most girls do not like that. Poking or punching her shows that you do not respect her much. Ask her out to see if she likes you - you will know from the way she responds. It's random. But anyways, don't poke a girl if they don't have any feelings for you. If your positive that she likes you, then make sure you don't poke her more than she is comfortable with, or else she will feel very unsercure and will eventually back away from you.
