Depending on the thesis, that is proposed, there are many conclusions to be had.
By most standards, "The British Empire", is considered "The Most Successful", as you put it. It had the largest % of population, of any Empire, largest land area, largest % of land area, and the most natural expansion (non-insidious) of any language/legal system.
Often "The Mongols" , are presented/argued to be, the "Most Succesfulfull", in terms of all the above criteria. Indeed they achieved many unsurpassed, goals. However by most comparisons, "The Mongols" were less influential in, linguistic, political, military, economic and architectural developments than later cultures.

Two highly successful empires from ancient times would be the Roman empire and the Persian empire. There was also the Egyptian and Assyrian empires that could count as being successful in their own times.

The Roman Empire and the Egyptian Empire may be considered as the most successful.
The answer would have to depend on how you define success. All empires have risen, been more or less successful then declined and broken up. As an eventual 'force for good' in the world, the old British Empire has transformed into the Commonwealth, which has considerable standing and influence, usually benign, in the world, so you might want to call that success.
At various times, the Spanish, the British, the Dutch, the French, and the Portuguese all had empires in the New World.
In medieval times, Hindustan referred to the northern region of the Indian subcontinent, comprising modern-day India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. It was known for its rich cultural diversity, flourishing trade networks, and the presence of various dynasties and empires.
