does it try to start or make no noise?maybe vats?vehicle anti theft system...electrical under the dash
my 91 Chevy Camaro RS V8 engine will not rotate when I turn the key the battery and the starter have been checked
# Disconnect negative battery cable # Raise and support car on jackstands # Remove the brackets supporting the starter # Remove the 2 starter motor to engine bolts and let the starter drop down far enough to allow removal of the nuts attaching the wires to the starter solenoid and battery cable # Separate the starter from the engine
Try rear of engine either driver's or passenger side bottom--follow + battery cable
disconnect battery. from underneath disconnect solenoid wire and battery cable from starter solenoid. remove starter motor bolts. remove starter motor. installation is the reverse but be sure to place the starter shim between the starter motor and the engine or you will get noise during starts.
Disconnect battery. From underneath, disconnect the electrical wires from the starter solenoid. Remove starter bolts and the starter. Note the location of the spacer shims. Installation is the reverse of removal and make sure you replace the spacer shims so you wont have any screeching noise when starting. If you need more details, include the year and engine size of your camaro.
The 1993 Chevy Camaro starter can be found on the right hand side of the engine. You can follow the positive at three cable directly to the starter.
The starter on a 98 V6 Camaro should be on the side of the engine block. It is close to the rear at the bell housing.
check the starter, or maybe check the battery may be enough voltage for lights, but not to crank the engine over.
Lower rear end of engine
underneath engine, bolted on passenger side of engine,
disconnect neg battery cable. from underneath the vehicle,disconnect the solenoid wire and battery cable from the terminals on the starter solenoid. remove the 2 starter motor bolts and remove the starter note the location of of spacer shims if any are equiped. installation is reverse. and be sure to replace the starter shims in the same location between the engine and the starter if your model has one.
Buy a starter for a L98 Chevy V8.
