Yes, most definitely. You must always replace struts and shocks in pairs. Replace one front shock or strut then you must replace both. Same for the rear.

How do you replace the front struts on a 1995 Saturn SL1 and do you recommend replacing anything else in that area while you are in it?

The front struts are held in by (3) nuts under the hood and (2) bolts that hold them to the wheel bearing knuckles. If you have access to a 1/2" pnuematic impact wrench the removal process will take about 5 minutes per strut. You will need a strut spring compression tool to compress the spring and remove the strut mount. I recommend replacing the strut mounts when you replace the struts as the are a wear item. Removing the nut that hold the strut to the strut mount will require a box wrench and a 6mm Allen wrench, put the box wrench on the nut and use the Allen wrench to turn the strut rod. This is also easily removed by the 1/2" pnuematic impact wrench. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. You will need to have a wheel alignment performed when you are done as the cast/camber of you tires will be off and will cause severe tire wear. Good Luck

How do you replace struts on a 1995 ford escort wagon?

1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and put it on jack stands. 2. Remove the nuts and bolts that secure the bottom of the strut to the steering knuckle. 3. Remove the nuts at the top of the strut tower and lower the strut assembly out through the bottom. 4. The spring will have to come off as it is not part of the replacement part. 5. To do this you'll have to get a spring compressor. 6. Before you take the spring apart spray the side of the strut assembly with some white paint. Spray a straight line up and down. This will enable you to replace the spring and mounting hardware the way it came off. The spring has to be in the strut to align with the lower housing bracket.

Is it wise to just replace 1 shock?

No, unless it is a very low mileage car and the reason is a leaking top seal. If one shock is leaking in a high mileage car, it means the other shock will also be worn, even if its seal has not leaked. If you replace only one, the damping will be unbalanced from side to side. This is potentially unsafe.

How do you remove and replace the rear shocks on a 1995 Buick Century?

I, too, am trying to change the struts on my 1993 Lasaber. So far I have removed the backseats to get to the top of the strut, but the access hole on top of the strut is too small...it needs to accommodate a 1" socket. Anyone who can take this to the next level would be greatly appreciated.

How do you repair the air suspension on a 1985 Lincoln Continental?

Well, if its leaking and not holding air then the only solution is replacing the entire air strut if the bag is wrapped round the shock at the top, that's an air strut, unless the bag is separate then just repair or replace air bag. u can but an air strut at Suncore Industries online for about 169. but you have to pay for shipping which brings it up to around 200. any q's you can contact me at m3idnight@netscape.net, until then chow.Thats if its a bag leaking. On mine it was the dryer for the system all four hoses were leaking a repair shop sold dryers w/ new lines for $80 i didnt have it so i used epoxy to seal mine it cost me $5. try bagmasters.com they have a system chek you can run on it. you also have 3 ride height sensors you might need to chek 2 front 1 rear and a switch in the trunk make sure its on. You can run strait power to the compressor to chek if it works if it dose then your loosing air and there are valves on th bags them selves good luckBigD77any questions E-Mail MEDLPEARCE7377@aol.com
