Check the valve cover gasket, if not that you may have a warped head.
If the front of the engine leaks coolant there is a blown head gasket. This requires immediate repair as it can lead to a blown engine if not managed appropriately.
Bad heater core?
It souds, by your discription, that the the front seal is failing on your engine. This typically doesn't cost much to replace the part itself, however, the time to do it is where a mechanic makes the money.

I can say from experience that Restore will stop engine oil leaks. Beyond that I have no idea. NO, they are only a temporary fix.

Clean the area off and run engine while watching for were the oil leaks out.
It is probably the Killer Dowel Pin. A pin slides out and cracks the front gear cover causing a massive oil leak when the engine is running. It only happens on the second generations.
You have a leak, then you should probably go and get it checked out. If you drove it for a period of time, you may have burned up some bearings...
