If God can do anything in the blink of an eye why did he take 7 days to create the world?

Presumably a truly omnipotent God could have created the world in a mere instant, but how do you write a dramatic and compelling story about something that was all over in a flash? Biblical scholars regard this creation account as a literary construct, so the author no doubt chose the period of seven days in order to explain the span of a week, which is seven days and includes a day of rest.
Islam takes the logic a step further, saying that God has no need for rest (Genesis 2:2) and therefore the Koran says (007.054) the entire period of creation was only six days.
Commonly called the Creation week as the Creator God renewed the face of the Earth all prepared for mankind in 6 days. On the 7th day, God rested and blessed the day for all generations to rest and ponder His great creation. Having established the 'week,' God gave it to mankind for a chronological tool/cycle.
There is no other physical cycle like the lunar month or solar year to 'copy' this timeframe for use. Over the course of millennia, mankind has 'played' with the length of our now 7 day week, all to no satisfactory standing, always reverting back to the 7 day period. Today, scientists are discovering several other 7 day patterns, especially in microbiology. It appears to be all part of a creation design by a divine Creator God and not by chance or happenstance as evolutionist tell the story.
