In Purgatory,no one saints may meet the souls. It is a place for purification.People who go there had a small amount of sins they committed on earth. They are mostly venial sins and their mortal sins are already absolve during confession. On the other hand,Saints are already in heaven. Venial sins are the minor infractions against God or any of his creatures. Mortal sins are the complete turning away from God, centering only on self with no boundries. Any sin properly confessed with the completion of act(s) of repentance and the true intent to "sin no more" (not do it again) are absolved, and are no longer of consequence. Unrepented mortal sins send the soul to h---, minor unrepented sins send the soul to a place not yet in "full communion with God", hence the "prayers for the dead." So you may have to spend time in the waiting room before you get into the big party, but St. Peter' and Michael the ArcheAngel is still supervising.
He has the Keys to the Gates of Heaven.
Saint Peter.
It is said that Saint Peter stands before the pearly gates and judges each person before they go through the pearly gates into heaven.
Gates to Purgatory was created on 1984-12-26.
Pearly gates- the gates of heaven. Also known as the door to the kingdom of God. The guardian of the gate is Saint Peter. Anyone that the person is bad will not be entered while the good will be entered. Those will not enter because they are bad will go to Hell.
In Matthew 16: 18-19 Our Lord appoints Peter as the head of the Church:"I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."This is the origin of Saint Peter traditionally illustrated holding keys.
No, God decides. But it is St Peter at the gates of Heaven... perhaps you have confused the two.
When Our Lord told Peter, "I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound also in Heaven. Whatever you loose on earth shall also be loosed in Heaven."
The duration of Gates of Heaven is 1.42 hours.
There is no legitimate name for the gates of heaven.
if you are Cindy Anthony there is NO punishment,at least by the court. We can only pray that the gates to heaven remain guarded well, not that she'll make it that far. However I understand the gates to hell are guarded too!! Or possibly she will sit in purgatory
The origin of Peter being thought of as the first Pope isn't Biblical. There may be some pagan influence particularly from the Roman god, Janus, who was the guardian of the gates and the doors to heaven and also used the emblem of the crossed keys which are now associated with the papacy. This pagan influence was then probably linked in with Matthew 16:19.
