If Strattera makes you tired and groggy will the effect wear off after taking it for a while?

hey patricia,my 4yr. old grandson takes Strattera.he started on a low dose,then the next higher dose.he usually take it around 7am.,goes to headstart,comes home around 3 or 4p.m. i have noticed that it starts to wear off around 5 or 6p.he's buck wild by then.he is also very tired and sleepy too.so,we try to let him get all of his frustration out,give him a warm bath,get sleepers on,hopefully he will eat something,whatever he wants.then prepare him for bed no later than 8p.hope he can get at least 9 or 10 hrs. of sleep.good luck.
According to my doctor, Strattera can make you drowsy about 8-9 hours after taking it and that it only lasts a little while. So he recommended that if it happens, to switch to taking it in the evenings so that you are sleeping when you get drowsy. He has 300+ patients out of his ~450 patients taking Strattera and he said the ones taking it in the evening after dinner don't report it reducing its effectiveness. It can also help those who have stomach upset, since most people eat a bigger dinner than do breakfast.

I don't recommend this combination. Phentermine speeds your body up and makes you jittery. Lunesta is a tranquilizer. It makes you sleepy and groggy. Instead of taking one thing to speed you up and another to slow you down - why not just take nothing? You'd get the same effect.

Yes, that is a serious amount to be taking to start with. -40- is a lot to start with. I've been taking Strattera for a year now, and I'm up to 60mg, and my body still has trouble handling it. It makes me sick, and dizzy, even if I eat before, with, and after it.

Yes, 40mg of Strattera is a lot to start out with because you're body may not be able to handle that big of a dosage. I'm no doctor, but I've been on Strattera now for a week and my dosage is 18mg, and it makes me feel ugh! If 18mg is a lot, then of course 40mg is a lot to start out with. I hope this somewhat makes sense and helps. Its one of the stronger amounts but I don't think its A LOT. Im starting at 40 and tomorrow I start taking 80 so clearly it cant be too bad if im doubling it

What do you do when Concerta causes difficulty to sleep?
I was taking 40 mg of strattera a month ago and last week the Dr increased it to 60 mg. I have found that since I have been taking this med I have been able to stop taking my Xanax. I am not able to sleep for long periods like we use to do when were younger. I have taken an over the counter sleep aid that makes me rest better. Strattera has relaxed me so much that I am able to sleep better than I use to. There are RX's that can be prescribe, but I use to be on those and got myself off them. Try over the counter med first. If you have trouble sleeping, as I did when I started Strattera, I recommend taking your dose first thing in the morning, when you wake up. That way, the medicine's effects fade off by the time you want to go to sleep.

I just stopped and tried Vyvanse, it worked great for 2 days, but a night my hunger was uncontrollable, going to continue with the Strattera. I am taking 100mg.
