it does not mean that. it means that the timing is off so it has to be timed by a timing gun pointed at the distributer and adjusted
A timing chain is something that will normally last until the engine needs an overhaul. It is starts making a noise, or you cannot keep the engine timed, it may need replacing. Otherwise it is not an item you replace at a set interval.A timing chain is something that will normally last until the engine needs an overhaul. Check your plug wires, they may be connected to the wrong place at either end, or you need this motor timed.
Is the vacume for the distributor TIMED vaume or full vaume at idle???
The 2001 Grand AM was not available with a belt timed engine. All engine options are chain timed.
Yes
I am not 100% sure but that engine is timed via a chain which never needs to be changed.
No, the Chevy cam will not fit in a Ford engine.a 302 ford cam will fit in a 351,but the engine will need to be timed to 302 specs if this is used. Later on H.O. 302 engines had the same firing order as as the 351 Windsor.
I checked my books and they skip right over 1974 and 1975 but the 1973 391 engine is timed at 6 degrees BTDC and 1976 is timed at 4 degrees BTDC. Try 6 degrees, if it pings drop it to 4 degrees.
There is not scheduled replacement of the timing chain. It will normally last the life of the engine until the engine needs a complete overhaul. Replace it is it is noisy, or you cannot keep the engine timed correctly.
Replace it when the engine needs a complete overhaul, if the chain becomes noisy, or if you are unable to keep the engine timed. Normally they last well over 100,000 miles.
good chance the cam and crank shafts were not aligned properly or the engine just needs to be timed correctly
There is no scheduled maintenance on replacing the chain. It will normally last until the engine needs an overhaul. However if it starts making noise, and you cannot keep the engine timed, the chain may need replacing.
