I assume you mean, the cables that sustain the elevator break.The coin will maintain its relative movement relative to the elevator. For example, if at the moment the elevator disconnects the coin is moving upward at 1 m/s (with respect to the elevator), it will continue going upward at the same speed (once again, with respect to the elevator), until it hits the ceiling.
This is because both the elevator and the coin will accelerate downward at the same rate.
