If you put the phone to your face, you've dialed someone and their hone is ringing. Otherwise, you'll set the phone down because you're message is sending. Duh. I am talking about making a call while using a headset. I checked the CA DMV site and you ARE allowed to still use the phone (your fingers) to dial. At the same time, you are NOT allowed to text. So, my question is how does a cop know whether you are dialing or texting? DUH

It's also an invasion of privacy and is considered punishable under law. The other way is if you are on the same account you may have the ability to check the call and text logs online if you have the correct permissions on the account.
