Chickens do stand out in the rain even when they have a dry coop a few feet away. Occasionally they will catch a chill and get sick just like people but for the most part, they just shake off and go about their business.
No it should not die, chickens get wet in the rain. They get wet from splashing through the water dish and they get very wet when feeding outside after a rain.
