It isn't likely a cat would die directly from a bite to the tail. However, a bite would leave the cat in great pain so it is advisable to take the cat to the vet immediately. While the tail isn't a vital organ, they are delicate appendages and due to the many bones within the tail, it is easy for a tail bones to break.
Sadly, a broken tail cannot be mended, and in some cases, if the injury is particularly bad or the injury is at the base of the tail (greater chance of nerve damage), the tail has to be amputated.
our cat recently bit a skanks tail off and is still alive and gong strong
Yes a cats tail is vascular.
If your cat bit you, it is probably because you anoyed them or scared them or they got scared or annoyed by something in their surroundings. If you cat has not had its injection, disinfect the area of the bite and next time your cats tail is wagging or seems annoyed, leave it alone
Cats who have no tails can still twist about and land on their feet. There are cats who are born without tails, and cats who get their tails caught and cut off, and they can do it. But if the cat had a tail that is just fine, don't cut it off.
Probably. It depends on what type of cat it is. But mostly, yes it would.
Cats move their tails in different ways. They cant talk, but their tail can tell how they feel. When a cats' tail is sticking straight up, they are saying a friendly "hello" (happy to see you). A relaxed cat curves his/her tail in a U-Shape. A wagging tail tells you the cat is unhappy. A tail thumping to the ground means the cat is going to attack. A twitchy tail means the cat is ready to pounce. Cats sweep their tail side to side if they are feeling excited or aggressive.
It isn't an illness, they are just deformed. Siames cats have a tendency for crooked tails. There are many great myths about it. One of my favorites is that the princesses use to put their rings on the cat's tails while bathing, and the cats developed the kink in order to have a more secure hold onto the rings.
Cats can be very finniky about where they will let you touch them. Some cats will let you touch their tails and others will not. Before trying to pet a cat's tail, see if that cat likes to be pet at all.
Cats use their tails primarily for balance while running and climbing; however a cat born without a tail can live a perfectly normal cat life without one. Several kinds of cats hav little or no tail: Manx, Lynx, Bobcat...
If a cat's tail comes off the cat should see a vet. It is important to make sure that the cat does not have an infection.
A cat's tail sways for balance. Their tail helps them stay on their feet when they leap and when they walk.
There are 28 bones in a cat's tail.
