If a model 20 12 gauge has a selector lever on the left side that locks the slide after one shot could this be a training verson?

Not if you have posted this question under the correct firearms topic. The military doesn't buy their weapons from Sears Roebuck, and I can't think of any other organization that would have a "training model". The selector lever keeps the next round in the magazine from chambering when you cycle the action, making it in effect a single shot. Hope this helps.
