Were you charged for having it in your possession? If so, it formed the PC for which you were arrested and charged, and had to be logged into the property office as evidence of a crime. They don't necessarily have to show it to you any more than they have to actually show you a warrant when they arrest you. Their only priority is making sure that they take you into custody and don't have a chance to resist or flee, they aren't required to stand around and discuss it with you.
