Only if your windows occupy 100% of the wall space that the unit was sized from. If your west exposure was 50% of the heat load in your home, with only one 2x2 window, the 15% reduction in heat gain from that one window could not make up for the remaining heat gain on that wall. In other words, you could possibly reduce your heat load from the window load by 15%. Run a heat loss/gain calculation on your house, and know for sure. Most contractors have this ability now, and is required by code in most locales.

The ability to see laser beams has nothing to do with black lights. Lasers need a reflective property in order to be seen by the human eye. Often times, the reflective property is a simulated fog in laser tag arenas. Something as simple as air freshener can be used as a reflective property in order to see a laser beam.

Not all organisms have the ability to maintain a constant internal temperature. Cold-blooded organisms like reptiles and amphibians need external sources like the sun to help them maintain a healthy temperature.

A mammal's ability to maintain it's internal body temperature is an example of homeostasis. Without the ability to maintain a constant internal temperature, animals would quickly die.

There are various drugs which may interfere with the body's ability to regulate its temperature and may cause hypothermia. For example, there is alcohol.

User Avatar

All mammals are classified as endotherms, which means they have some ability to keep a constant body temperature. However, endothermy is not complete, so a disease or extreme outside temperatures could overpower the mammal's ability to keep its body temperature constant.

It helps them maintain a constant, ideal temperature (homeostasis). Enzymes can work more effectively (at the ideal temperature).

User Avatar

As temperature decreases, metabolic rate decreases...of course this is why the ability to control body temperature is so critical to survival. Whether an organism controls it's body temperature internally or externally is relevant only in terms of how successful temperature regulation improves an organism's ability to survive, reproduce and adapt.
