Yes, but choose your words carefully , especially if this person has been abusive to you in the past. Example ONLY: Say " Look , John, you know things are not going to change between us, so let's just say Hi and Bye and not have any personal conversation anymore. Please. It only makes it harder for both of us to move on with our lives.".It might be better to have a girlfriend with you if you have a serious concern for your safety.
