broken hose to the Power Steering reservoir or the rack on the firewall is leaking badly or the reservoir has a hole in it.
What will happen if u I added power steering fluid to a leaking power steering pump
Noise may be heard in a power steering line when the power steering fluid is low. Low power steering fluid may occur due to a leaking power steering pump in most cases. If the pump is not leaking, then the fluid needs to be added.
I father owns an early 65 and it did not come with tilt. But it's possible it might have been added later.
the power steering resevoir, MAKE SURE the vehicle requires power steering fluid, some use transmission fluid instead. If your unsure take it to a lube center and ask them to do it you. In the 2004 Chevy Impala with the 3.8L engine, the power steering pump is a sealed unit. It does not require fluid to be added. Also if you have to replace it, it is not an easy job. The power steering pump is above the transmittion and behind the center of the engine.
someone said torque converter. mechanic tried replacing high pressure hose but problem still there. I thought power steering pump cos it was replaced December 2012 and problem started soon after. mechanic (bates) said the problem is hard to diagnose. this information was added by the original poster
A 2002 Chevy Impala does not come with an RCA jack. A jack can be added to the radio via an adapter.
It is added to the overflow tank.jd
Freon could be leaking anywhere in the ac system. A colored dye can be added to the system, then seen with a special light to find the leak.
I own a 1995 Avalon and it too had a leak in p/s system. I work on cars, ASE certified, for a living. I added some p/s leak and conditioner to the sytem 30-40k ago and no problems since. Now the the leak was not major but a severe enough problem to deal with. I have not replaced the rack and have no need to.
It probably needs power steering fluid added.
You need to find the leak and fix it. Can be a hose clamp, can be a seal on the servo pump.
==Suggestion== I have read that the newer caravans have a problem with the rear air conditioning hoses eroding and leaking, you might check this out, if this is the problem the dealer will fix it for free. I have had this problem in a different type of vehicle, found the water was slowly leaking into a cylinder and going out the exhaust pipe, the leak was slow enough that it really didn't effect performance. Finally started leaking enough that steam constantly came out the tailpipe.
