This sounds bad, but you literally have to grag the dash and pull as hard as you can. You may need to wobble it a little bit to get it loose.
Its inside/behind the glove compartment. Squeeze the sides pull the unit towards you and remove it.
Make sure the unit is slightly tilted back in the window so it can drain, if the unit is still leaking you may need to remove the unit and cover to clean out the drain it may have a blocked drain.
If it is leaking. Fluid will be coming from the right side. Remove wheel and plastic cover behind it. look up and forward to see pully. There is a hole in the bottom of the pump. If you see leaking or streak from leaking . replace the pump.

First thing Is There Is No Water In An Altenater. ... But it Does sound Like the Heater Hose Is leaking and it is located Under The Intake Manifold on the 4.6 Engine And It is running Down Front Of moptor The Only Way to Repair This Is to Remove The Intake Manifold.....:)
Remove toxic
Remove the drive belt from the air conditioner compressor. Remove the air conditioning hoses from the compressor. Remove the retaining bolts from the air conditioner compressor.
What's under the intake is not a hose, it's a pipe which a hose attaches to behind the intake manifold near the firewall. If the hose is leaking, it's a relatively easy task to replace it. If the pipe is leaking, you will have to remove the intake manifold which is not an easy task (minimum 6 hours to remove and replace the manifold!)
Unless you have special tools to remove the clutch you don't. Buy the complete assembly either rebuilt or used from a car parts recycler. I assume from your question the compressor seal is leaking, if so go the above route.
if your 2001 path has in-cabin filter (mine does not) they (two) will be located behind the glovebox. you will need to remove glovebox and back cover to expose the filters.
Remove the air conditioner from the wall or from the window place it on the ground remove the covers get the hose out and hose the back of the air conditioner off, if it is a older unit it could be heavy depending on the size.
