If your hair became wavy because of a shift in gene expression or the like, it may never change back. If it changed with the onset of puberty, to feel too stressed out about it; it may change back when your hormones settle down. (If it didn't change at puberty, you may or may not be out of luck; genetics can be tricky). In the meantime, there is little you can do besides encourage or force it to tend towards straightness. Below is a list of things that may make it a bit straighter:
- Try washing your hair in cool or lukewarm water: this seems to minimize waves.
- Try taking a vitamin B2 (riboflavin) supplement--vitamin B2 is important in keratin production.
- Towel your hair dry, then let it air dry: blow dryers may make your hair look straighter for a while, but can damage hair, which, in hair that tends toward waving, may be expressed as a further deviation from straight. (If you really want to blow dry your hair, use the cool setting, if available, and avoid the scalp).
- Oil treatments are usually good for hair texture, unless you already have an oily scalp, in which case it may do nothing.
