She probably just has that instead of classic morning sickness. I had terrible diarrhea at night too...it went away when i got into my 2nd trimester. Ask her doctor if you have any questions or serious concerns about her health. She should also be extremely careful what she is eating as some forms of food poisoning can affect the baby.

With my second, I was sick every morning and kept heartburn the entire time. Now, with my third, the thought of eating turns my stomach and I could easily sleep all day every day. So, for each one of us women and for each pregnancy, it is different.
