When you recycle you typically recycle paper, plastics, metal and glass. As a result many of these products can melted down or cleaned to be used again by companies. This reduces the amount of resources needed to make all new bottles and cans, for example. Basically if we were to halt all types of recycling we would end up with much larger land fills, which would poison the soil and potentially any table water. In addition with the lack of recycling companies would be forced to use more resources to make there products instead of re-using recycled bottles, cans, and paper. In the end the demand for plastics and paper would rise expodentially and many of our already dwindling forests would be consumed.
