The President is selected by the House of Representatives and the Vice President is selected by the Senate.

The interesting thing about this, although it has never happened, is that the HoR could vote in a democrat, and the senate could vote in a republican, or vice versa, which would make a bipartisan executive branch!

If no candidate for president receives a majority of electoral votes for president, the Twelfth Amendment of the United State Constitution provides that the U.S. House of Representatives will select the president, with each of the fifty state delegations casting one vote, and the U.S. Senate will select the vice-president.

What nation would you get sent to prison if you didnt use your right to vote?

In Australia and New Zealand, you get fined if you fail to go vote. There, you can vote for any Candidate you like and if you don't like any of them, you can vote for "None of the Above" and if None of the Above gets the most Votes, then they cancel the Election, kick out all of the Candidates and rerun the Election with different Candidates.

What will make you fail a military physical?

What is the total number of candidates at an examination if 31 percent fails and the number of those who pass exceeds the number of those who fail by 247?

31% fail so 100-31 = 69% pass.The percentage of those who pass exceeds the percentage of those who fail by 69-31 = 38%So 38% = 247which means that 100% = 100*247/38 = 650 candidates.31% fail so 100-31 = 69% pass.The percentage of those who pass exceeds the percentage of those who fail by 69-31 = 38%So 38% = 247which means that 100% = 100*247/38 = 650 candidates.31% fail so 100-31 = 69% pass.The percentage of those who pass exceeds the percentage of those who fail by 69-31 = 38%So 38% = 247which means that 100% = 100*247/38 = 650 candidates.31% fail so 100-31 = 69% pass.The percentage of those who pass exceeds the percentage of those who fail by 69-31 = 38%So 38% = 247which means that 100% = 100*247/38 = 650 candidates.

Why did the electoral college system fail in 1800?

Thomas Jefferson won the 1800 presidential election defeating John Quincy Adams, Aaron Burr, Charles Pinckney, and John Jay. In 1800 electors voted for two individuals and did not distinguish between their presidential and vice-presidential choices until the passage of the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1803. The recipient of the most electoral votes in 1800 would become president and the runner-up vice-president. Thomas Jefferson received 73 electoral votes, his running-mate Aaron Burr received 73 electoral votes, John Quincy Adams received 65 electoral votes, Charles Pinckney received 64 electoral votes, and John Jay received 1 electoral vote. Although John Quincy Adams ran as Thomas Jefferson's main opponent in the general election, running-mates Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr received the same number of electoral votes. The election was decided in the House of Representatives, with 10 State delegations voting for Jefferson, 4 voting for Burr and 2 making no choice. Thomas Jefferson became President and his running-mate Aaron Burr became Vice President.

How can a contestant lose his security money in election?

In most jurisdictions, candidates will lose their security deposit if they fail to win more than a certain percent of the popular vote at an election. For example, in United Kingdom parliamentary elections, candidates must pay a security fee of £500 to secure their nomination. This money is refunded only if the candidate wins more than 5.0% of all valid votes cast. In Hong Kong, the threshold is 3%, whilst in India it is a more unusual 16.7% of the vote. Not all jurisdictions operate this policy. In some, security deposits may not be returned at all; in others, like Canada, they are automatically returned no matter how many votes one gets.
