Not necessarily. Lots of women do not get their period until they have taken most of the placebo (sugar) pills. Depending on your natural cycle, you may just have to be patient and pay attention to how you're feeling and what symptoms you may be experiencing. Generally your period is supposed to start during the placebo week, but it may not begin until you take the seventh and final sugar pill in your pack. As long as you don't skip your cycle entirely, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you're not sure, missed any "active" pills, or did not use a back-up method and have some doubts, get a home pregnancy test or visit Planned Parenthood and ask for a test.

What is the fourth part of the circulatory system?

You need to see your doctor, as you shouldn't be having break through bleeding if you haven't missed any pills. You may need to go on a different birth control pill.

When do you get your period when you're on the birth control pill?

You'll have withdrawal bleeding anytime between the second and sixth day of your placebo week, if your pill has a placebo week built in. If you're on Micronor or other progestin-only pill, or if you're on a combination pill with no placebo pills built in, you may not have regular withdrawal bleeding. If you are referring to when you should expect your period, it should come anytime within the sugar pills (the week with the different color). Most women get their period when on the third or fourth pill of the 4th week but please be aware that as you just started your pills, you may not get a period at all and that is also common. It takes your system approximately 3 months to adjust the the hormones. If you have been taking your pill every day without fail and at or around the same time, you should be fine.

Is it normal to get your period on the fourth day of the sugar pill and still have it the first week of taking the active pills?

Yes, I am on YAZ with only 4 days of placebo's...I usually get my period on the 4th and final day of them and then have my period for about 4-5 day into the active ones. When on the pill, your period is not what it usually is without the pill. It is called "withdrawal bleeding" which is the lack of hormones telling your body to continue nurturing your uterus. Once started, that cycle of purging takes your body some time to stop. Your pill is lying to your body, saying your already pregnant so when those pills stop, your body thinks its not pregnant anymore and flushes out the uterus.

You missed the third week of pills but started your period as if it had been your fourth week should you be worried?

No this is perfectly normal. The way birth control pills work, is they are estrogen or progesterone. When a woman is pregnant the levels of these hormones increase. Birth control pills increase the estrogen levels in your body, fooling it into thinking that you are pregnant already so there is no ovulation. As the estrogen in your body decreases your body realizes that is not pregnant and sloughs off the lining of the uterus (your period) as it would normally.
