I believe this is very much true. If the parent never let their child make their own mistakes they can never learn from them. Where as, a parent that doesn't hover lets their child make those mistakes and they learn from them rather than being tempted to do them even more.

What is authoritarian family?

Authoritarian family is a type of family structure where parents have strict control over their children, often using punishment and rules to enforce obedience. In this type of family, there is little room for discussion or negotiation, and children are expected to follow the rules set by their parents without question. This can lead to a lack of independence and autonomy in children as they grow up.

Why do some strict parents not allow privacy?

I call it more overprotective than strict. Some parents forget that their main job is to prepare their children for the outside world and what to do if something happens to them. Unfortunately, some parents "cling" to their children and can't let go out of fear of losing them.
