If an alien remains in the US beyond the experation of their Visa, they are legally out of status. They should leave the country ASAP. When that is not possible or desired, try to change/modify your status. As a National from Another Country, you must have a reason to be in this country. 95%+ of Green Cards are marriage based. The others are from Business or Green Card Lottery. As for Visas, there are many catagories but some of the most common (H2B-temporary non-skilled worker, for example) have become difficult to obtain, as the USCIS has caps that limit the number of aliens that can receive these temporary Visas. This is a result of the recessive economic times that are upon us. Good luck in finding the information that you need.
