The boy drops out of school and gets a job with a local construction firm. He makes $6.00 per hour for 10 hours per day of back breaking labor. He marries the girl, who also drops out of high school, in spite of being a straight A student. They get married and go to live in a tiny house trailer in the worst part of town. He decides to increase the family income by cooking up some meth. While the wife goes to the hospital to have the baby, he makes a mistake and blows up the trailer. He is burned over 75% of his body -- but somehow survives. The baby is born with fetal alcohol syndrome; the girl goes into depression and starts cutting again. The boy is moved from the hospital burn ward to nursing home -- since he cannot care for himself. All of his external body parts have been burned off, so he has a permanent in-dwelling catheter and a colostomy. His medical bills are astronomical. His parents sell their home and his father and mother get second jobs. The girl starts using crack and becomes a prostitute; the baby is left unattended in her old rattle-trap of a crack-head car while she is inside a sleezy motel room servicing a bunch of drunken Mexicans. The baby dies from heat stroke, since the car was parked in the direct sun. The girl is arrested and goes to prison for ten to life. While in prison she is raped by a lesbian group and changes into a lesbian "femme". Meanwhile, the boy is finally released from his eternal pain and torment by a drunken night "nurse" at the care center. She gives him an injection of Purex Bleach insead of Saline Solution. He dies. The parents of both the girl and the boy ask themselves "Where did we go wrong?"
