Could be several things...It could be low on refridgerant or the coils could be dirty. Check the coils first as this is something you can do your self.

Trane A/Cs have excellent warrentys. If it is icing up you need to call the dealer for repair. Sure you can heat the house. The furnance and A/C are separate systems. Remember to change the filters.
