Christians should follow the law in The Bible if there is a contradiction, but you need to be sure that they really do contradict. Christians also need to be ready to accept the consequences of transgressing the law of the land, a point made by Dr Martin Luther King in his letter from the Birmingham jail.
You can also see this in the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego (Daniel 3:1-30): they saw the contradiction, and were prepared to transgress the King's commandments, even unto death in the fiery furnace.
But the message of the Bible is clear that if you don't follow the law of God you shouldn't fear - Christ took the punishment for all sin on the cross.
