All kinds of crazy stuff can happen.
On the steering column
that switch is located in side car at bottom of stearing calum.the big wiers plug into it.
The battery is needed for the car to start. Re-install the battery and try again.
97-98 Mark VIII's have a computer chip in the key head that is read by the ring around the ignition switch. The key must be programmed to the ignition switch by the Ford or L/M dealer. They will also be able to get the key code for you upon verification of your ownership of the vehicle.
On my 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII had the same problem. Apparently several things can cause this, but this is what worked for my car. Under the hood on the passenger side there is a switch fastened to the frame, it's about halfway between windshield and front of car. We removed the bolts holding the switch, turned the switch upside down, then replaced the bolts. The alarm system still works and it hasn't gone off randomly since then. Good luck!
Check to make sure nothing was on during the night and if not then your battery is weak (your cells in the battery) are weak...get a new battery.
The 1995 when can Mark VIII cooling fan switch is located behind the dashboard. The switch will be on the passenger side of the dashboard in the passenger compartment.
In my 95 Mark viii there is a little access panel on the left side in the trunk, its in there. (its a little red switch.)
I think you need a scanner to do that, did you try to disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes? That resets everything back to factory settings and my help with your problem
Yes, cut the red wire.
