you need to take the alternator off and have it tested advance auto parts does this for free
how about plugs, wires or ignition module
Start the truck then disconnect the battery if it's still running the alternator is good
the starter, battery and the alternator are good, icheck and change the the wires but the light inside the dashboard, the headlights come on but the truck will not start.
If it makes a k-k-k-k-k-k sound, then it might be that the battery's dead.
check to see if any positive lines aren't touching the frame. if it is just wrap it in electrical tape. and you should be good. if not then get new terminals for the battery or clean them. even if they don't look bad it only takes a light Grey to do it. if that isn't it then idk but i would go with the battery terminal first
Could be any number of things. Check and see if you have a good connection to the battery. If that's good then see if the battery is dead. If all else fails give the starter a good whack with a wrench or anything you may have handy.
Start simple- check the fuses and battery. If those are good check the starter.
Try having the alternator checked at a local parts house, off the truck and on. If it tests good on a bench tester, then bad on truck, then you might have a bad voltage regulator or wiring problem. If it's an older ford, (should be if it's a 100), then the regulator should be separate from the alternator.
Disconnect the battery for 2 minutes. Reconnect and it should be good to go.
The simplest way to recharge a GOOD battery is to simply jump start and drive the vehicle for twenty to thirty minutes. The above answer is not a good idea if the battery was so weak it will not start the engine. You may damage the alternator by using it to charge a dead battery. You should charge the battery with a battery charger. That is the safest way.
Sounds like your battery was weak to start with. What you did should not have caused any problems if your battery was in good condition so without seeing it, I think you should remove your battery and have your battery charged and load tested.
The car boosting should run for ten minutes or so. The car with the dead battery will need to be charged for 8 hrs with a battery charger, but as long as the battery is good a 1hr run will likely allow the car to start again.
