In Maryland the guidelines are that you must not, without good cause, refuse a referral or any offer of suitable work. One of the few factors they will take into consideration is prevailing salary for the job in your geographical area. From past experience if it is not a huge pay cut you cannot get back on unemployment.
To be safe check with your local unemployment office.

Tough question. By principal I wouldn't want to take the lower paying position but in these times it might be better to have some income than none at all. Maybe take the position but start looking for something else.

If you were on workers compensation and that ran out and then your old job did not take you back, you should be able to collect unemployment. However, you will need to apply for it. There are certain restrictions. You will need to go to the unemployment office and ask them rather than ask the internet.

That's more of a life question then anything. You have to eventually work again, so I would take the lower position and work your way back up. Sometimes life is tough!

You took leave because your boss asked you to. That choice is like, resign or I will fire you. If your boss will not hire you back immediately, this state gives you unemployment under those circumstances. If you refuse to take either option and you are fired, you can get unemployment. It is obvious that your boss is giving you the choice of take part time work or quit only is not putting it to you in quite those terms.
