When a volcano explodes, it is due to the decompression of gasses trapped in the magma. A gas will expand greatly with a large pressure change. A liquid or solid will not.

Additionally, the core has thousands of miles of rock on top of it. The weight of the rocks is what generates the enormous pressure, and it is also what holds the high pressure environment in place.

How does Earth release pressure?

An erupting volcano is an example of the release of pressure from the earth's interior.

What causes volcanoes to explode?

It would usually consist of pressure and if there is a hot spot under the volcano. There are also many different types of volcanoes and it would also depend on the type it is. For example the dome volcano just makes a hot air looking balloon type of thing. How the volcano explodes: There is a rock in the volccano called ignious and inside the volcano is lava. When the temperature get very high the lava turns into magma and when the magma touches the rock it has a reaction of some kind that makes the volcano explode when it gets to hot

What conditions result in an explosive volcano?

Of course, you need a builldup of lava beneath the surface of the earth. If this lava has a high viscosity (flows slowly), then it is more likely to build up and explode. Also, if there is alot of lava building up, then the pressure on the top of the volcano increases too.

Why do volcanoes explode?

When rock inside the Earth becomes hot enough it melts. The molten magma is less thick than the solid rock surrounding it. Just as an object that is less thick than water will float on water, the relatively low density of the magma causes it to rise to the surface of the Earth. If the magma contains water and dissolved gasses, when the magma reaches the surface the water and dissolved gasses will suddenly expand into steam and gas, causing a violent eruption.a volcano explodes because of the pressure and heat at the bottom of the volcano rocks melt and start to over flow in the volcano

Why does magma sometimes push through earth's surface and make a volcano?

because of pressure

Why do acorns explode when heated up?

The moisture in the acorn is also heated and that moisture begins to boil. Eventually contained in the shell of the nut the pressure builds until the nut shell can no longer contain it. This causes the nut to explode. Most people do not appreciate the explosive power of water. If you think of it why does a volcano explode? Some volcanoes explode with some of the most intense explosions on earth. These are all triggered by water in the volcano heating to incredible pressures. If you have ever seen a "pressure cooker" explode in a kitchen there the extra pressure is around 14 lbs/sq inch. The pressures in a volcano can be thousands of pounds per square inch.

What is the purpose of a volcano?

A volcano is Earth's safety valve, it lets out pressure that has built up beneath the surface of the Earth.

Where inside the earth does volcano occur?

A volcano is the visible effect of pressure building up in the semi-molten mantle below the surface. This pressure can cause lava and gases to erupt from the opening in the top or sides of the volcano. Therefore, a volcano occurs on the earth's crust (surface).

How do valcanose explode?

Over the years the lava comes through the earth with such force that it comes surging out the top of the volcano.

What is a volcano?

A volcano is a mount (or mountain) that has magma in it. A volcano also is like an earthquake releasing pressure from the inner core of the earth. If there is a lot of pressure to be released this will cause the eruption to be bigger and more destructive, like the volcano Mount Tambora that erupted in 1815.

Can an earthquake happen under a volcano?

yes because the earth plate is straight when the earth quake comes the volcano moves but nothing will happen but if its a really big earth quake And the volcano will erupt because of the pressure and the plates can hold the pressure so the volcano will erupt so can a tsunami occur.

When does a volcano happen?

A volcano happens whenever the pressure of the melted rocks below the earth becomes great enough to break through the surface.
