Sometimes you have no choice. For example many of the Home Theater systems include a Blue Ray Player. Sony who makes the PS3 also makes the Blu ray players and includes one on there internet TV Blu-Ray Player that costs the same as a PS3. Other reasons include a better playback system for blue ray features and you can even find that your PS3 is on a different HDTV than the one you want to watch the movies on. The features on other Blu Ray Players include 2D to 3D up conversion, Skype, HomeShare™ wireless multi-room audio compatible, Internet video content noise reduction, Super Bit Mapping™ (16 Bit Video Processing), and many features already found in the PS3

You shouldn't unless it has better technology than the PS3 but this could probobly be fixed with a simple firmwere update

What kind of DVD player will play HD DVDs?

To play a high definition DVD, you need a high definition DVD player. There are two types available currently. HD DVD, developed by Toshiba is one and BluRay, developed by Sony is the other. They are not compatible, so an HD DVD will not play on a BluRay player and a BluRay disc will not play on an HD DVD player. BluRay looks like it is the winner in the format war between the two companies over the last years so it is likely that Toshiba's format will disappear in the coming months. Note that HD DVD can refer to the Toshiba format but it can also refer to high definition DVDs in general.

Is there a difference in HD DVDs and Blu-ray?

HD DVD and Bluray were competing high definition disc formats. In 2009 HD DVD was withdrawn from sale as it became apparent that Bluray had won the HD disc battle. The two formats are not compatible so HD DVDs can only be played on an HD DVD player.

Will Blu-ray DVDs play on an HDMI player?

HDMI is a type of cable used for domestic high definition television signals. All Bluray players use HDMI as their HD connection to televisions but there is no such thing as an HDMI player.

Can you play Blu-ray discs on regular DVD player?

BluRay discs carry high definition television and therefore store data in a high density format. A standard definition DVD player will not recognise a BluRay disc and will simply report an error if one is loaded. On the other hand, a BluRay player will not only play BluRay discs but will also handle standard DVDs. Most will also recognise and play CD format discs. Most Bluray players will also down convert the HD signal from a BluRay disc so that it can be viewed on a standard definition television. In this case, of course, the image quality will be the same as any other standard definition signal. To benefit from the high definition signal, an HD television is also required.

Now, after the introduction of so many BluRay players into the market, making a decision is not at all easy. There are many options to consider while going to market now. There are some factors, which should be kept in mind before making a decision on purchasing a BluRay player.Resolution is the most important of these factors. You must not settle for a resolution less than 1080p, which is the benchmark resolution of BluRay players now. The Bonus View feature is necessary, if you are looking to get the total high definition viewing experience. Another feature to look out for is the network features offered by the BluRay player. BluRay vs. DVD Players?

Movies have become something that is so easy for you to enjoy at home. With the recent developments in technology it is now easier to enjoy high definition movies at home and not have to pay the prices of the movie theaters. We now have BluRay technology that makes the movies we watch look even more real. BluRay and DVD players make it very easy for someone to enjoy the movies they want to watch at the quality and price that they want. Even though you have to buy more equipment for your home, in the long run it makes everything cheaper for you.DVD players are actually not the most up to date technology, but are still very useful as not all movies are released on BluRay yet. Also, there are lots of movies that have already come out that are not released on BluRay. DVD players allow you to watch your movies in the comfort of your home. You can scan over the special features, rewind and faster forward your movies, and even start your movie from a particular place in the movie. Lots of DVDs even come with features that you can use in your computer.BluRay is the most up to date type of movies available on the market. BluRay is a level of high definition that makes the movie look even more real. It makes animation look incredible and non animation movies look as though you are right there when they are filming it. There are now BluRay movies done in 3D. This is an amazing experience that everyone should see at least once. It makes everything seem very real and makes t experience of the movie something that will truly stick out in your mind.Whether you are a fan of BluRay or just regular DVDs you can get players that suit your needs. Typically, BluRay players play BluRay discs as well as regular DVDs, however the opposite is not true. Common DVD players cannot play BluRay movies. Another thing that you need to remember with BluRay movies is that you have to have a high definition television in order to truly experience the BluRay difference. This is because the technology for BluRay was developed for these type of televisions. While your movie will still play on the television, it won't give you the same experience as with a BluRay player.

What is the bluray writer used for?

Blu-rays are now standard media, overcoming DVDs. Blu-ray discs can also hold more information than DVDs, so it's possible to burn more high-quality music and homemade videos on a single Blu-ray disc than the antiquated DVD.

Can you play a Blu-ray player on a regular tv?

Yes you can. Virtually all Bluray players have an analog output which is standard definition. This can be connected to the video input of any television and you will see a standard definition image from a Bluray disc. The quality won't be as good as is on the disc of course but at least the disc will play. It is normally possible to set up the HDMI connector to output a standard definition signal. This is probably not of much use as almost all televisions that have HDMI inputs will also accept high definition signals. It might also be worth pointing out that standard DVDs will also play on a Bluray player. Using the analog output from the player with a standard DVD playing will give the same quality of image as any standard DVD player.
