It can damage the valves i don't think it would damage the head though
Yes it can if the engine was spinning at a high rate. The valves can break off and tumble around causing severe damage. I used to have a piston with all 4 valves from that cyl. sticking in it !
hi there if the timing belt goes on the mx5 it does not damage the the headand the bottem will free spin when you turn it over on the key
It is best to replace the timing belt when the car starts approaching 100,000 miles. It starts to be dry rotted. It is a lot cheaper to do it before it goes out. If it goes it can cause a lot of damage to engine.
As this is an interference engine you will have internal engine damage if the belt breaks. The amount of damage can only be determined after removing the head.
hi, its simple on this car because it is a none interferance engine. that means there is no damage to valves when the belt goes. all you have to do is replace the timing belt which should only take about an hour.
The timing belt goes and the valves bend.
Unless I'm mistaken , if a timing belt goes on ANY car it WILL damage the engine. If you whack the clutch in and stop immediately you may limit the damage. Timing belt change intervals vary. Halfords or eBay haines manual £13 new will tell you what the correct timing belt change intervals are. usually 30-60 K miles depending on make. I would never risk it... unless we're talking old banger. On a US market 960, you will have major damage if your timing belt breaks. The engine is what is called an interference engine. The scheduled replacement interval is 70k. If the last replacement is in question, replace the belt.
If it breaks while the engine is runnIng, yes. It can damage the valve train
The manufacturer's handbook states that the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced at 100,000 miles but many mechanics say it is safer to change timing belt at 45,000 or 50,000 miles. If timing belt fails it can cause serious engine damage so it's better to be safe than sorry. An average timing belt with water pump and labor is around $600.00. The Focus has an interference engine which means if the timing belt goes, the engine needs to be replaced.
It does not have a timing belt. It has a chain and gears. If timing chain goes out then the engine will not run.
Yes , the 1.5 liter engine in a 1991 Toyota Tercel IS AN INTERFERENCE ENGINE so if the timing belt breaks while the engine is running it can cause engine damage
i need to instal the timing belt on a kia rio 2003 how the mark goes
the timing belt is not the same as the serpentine belt.the serpentine belt goes around your water pump pulley and the power steering pump, air condition compressor pulley and the alternator pulley.the timing belt goes around the camshaft and the crankshaft.it is not visable without taking the timing belt cover off.
