This guy is feeding you a line! You either care about someone or you don't. Stop giving him any fringe benefits until he commits to the fact you two are a couple. If you are sleeping together (that's your business) stop! If you are there all the time for him. Stop!
This is what you say to HIM, "OK, that's fine with me, so when and if you want to go out with me call, because I'm getting back out in the dating circuit and also seeing my girlfriends more because I miss them." This will put his colon in a knot! Trust me! I am sure he is just afraid of commitment and this will make his mind up one way or the other.
