Of course you can answer questions in other categories!
WikiAnswers is about sharing your knowledge; it would be silly to say that, because someone is a category supervisor, they don't know anything about other categories. Of course, your work as category supervisor within your category is essential and highly appreciated, but if you see a completely unrelated question you want to answer, by all means please go ahead.
A 'senior' supervisor manages more general categories, whereas 'ordinary' supervisors stick with just one category. For example I, as a 'standard' supervisor - look after just the snakescategory. Snakes is a sub-section of the general 'reptiles' section. The whole of the reptiles section is supervised by Stupid Little Genius.
That depends completely on contestant knowledge. Most categories are easy to experts on the subjects and hard for people with little knowledge of the category.
Next to the posted category is either the words "Edit categories" (for unanswered questions), or a little pencil symbol (for answered questions). Click on that to change the categories.
To find unanswered questions about the Jonas Brothers, go to the Jonas Brothers category (you can get there through the "Browse categories" or "Categories" links, or go to answers.com/Q/FAQ/3547 in your browser). Once you are in the category, there will be a little "Unanswered" link in the upper left, right above the name of the category. If you click that link, you will see all the unanswered questions we have in that category.
Usually if you add a question to the subcategory of a main category, it automatically removes itself from the main category. You don't *have* to remove questions from main categories if you add them to a subcategory, but doing so would make the site a little more organised and less cluttered.
You can categorize questions as science questions, business and finance, technology, mathematics, and much more.
You have to go to the "Q&A Categories" at the top of the website navigational bar. Then scrolling down a little bit, and finding a text that states, "to request a new category, fill out this forum" which the link to this is located in the related links below.
Near the top of the page you'll see "Browse: Unanswered questions", click on that and you'll see the categories, [or if you want to see who supervises a category, click "Browse categories", in the blue sidebar and the supervisors name well be next to the category]. Go down to "Hobbies and collectibles", and click the little green arrow, which gives you sub-categories. Then 4 categories down you'll see "Arts and crafts", which also has sub-categories.
Yes, you need to e-mail them and also you probably need to join the SPA program here on WikiAnswers, which is run by Stupid Little Genius (Link to her profile page in the Related Links section). You also should be familiar with the category you want to supervise.
As WikiAnswers grows, the number of Categories grows. But there are a lot of different Categories that might not be here yet because they are a little too "narrow" in focus. There is no "Famous Left-handed People" Category. Yet. As the number of questions grows, those here at the Community Level (who monitor the size of each Category) make decisions as to when a new Category needs to be added to more adequately "cover" an area. It might be looked at like a "Split" of an existing Category. Just like "Rules of the Road" was added to "Laws and Regulations" to hold the growing number of questions concerning traffic laws. That's pretty much the long and short of it.
In what category? This is a little vague...
Click on "Unanswered questions" or in the blue sidebar "Browse categories". If "Browse categories is not there, click on" HI [your name]". Browse categories will give you supervisors names next to categories. Any way, go down to "History politics and society". If you click the little green arrow [sub-categories], next to "History politics and society', you'll see more choices. Here you'll see, "Politics and society". Click on the arrow again and you'll see "Politics and policy", click again and you'll see more choices like, "Political office holders" and "Political theory".
