If you are a supervisor on WikiAnswers and you change your username - how does it affect your WikiAnswers email address?

If you change your username, there are 2 things that can be done:
- We add your new username as an alias to the old email account, but the email address itself does not change (i.e., you keep your old email address). Then, any mail sent to either address will go to your original email address.
In this way you will not lose any old emails, and any mail sent to your new username will go there as well. The name on the account will change to reflect your new username, so the transition will be almost unnoticeable.
- We delete your old account and establish a new email address in your new username. Using this option, all old mail would be lost, but your old username would never show up on correspondence, or in the address book.

Why does WikiAnswers cuss at you?
It's not the site - it's a small minority of individual users who lack the social skill to construct meaningful answers. If you're getting abuse from anyone - report it to any supervisor. The user can be warned and blocked (either temporarily or permanently). Sadly, many 'hide' behind the anonymity of a network (either school, work, or public) - and thus any action we supervisors take will affect every user of that IP address !
Can someone with authority over wikianswers please post to featured questions what vandals and spammers need to know?
The consequences of vandalism and spamming of WikiAnswers - is spelled out in the guidelines (see related link). In simple terms - there's nothing to stop someone intent on causing disruption to the content of WikiAnswers. However - a potential 'offender should ask themselves WHY they do it - since their action could affect not only their own activity here - but that of everyone using their IP address. WikiAnswers records the IP address of EVERY contributor - whether that's an individual or a school network. Quoting directly from the Guidelines... "...Your IP address has been recorded. It goes into our logs and our logs get stored. When you make a change, your IP address is made public so we can see it...."
