No, the employer cannot call you at home to demand that you get off unemployment. When you begin drawing unemployment, the employer does not pay directly - there is a fund in which employer deposits are being placed and that fund is where the unemployment payment comes out - nothing to do with your ex-employer.

If your ex-employer is harassing you; however, you should call the police and BBB.

Do employers rates go up if you claim unemployment?

This answer is specific to unemployment insurance in California:The California Employment Development Department uses an experience rating system, where employers pay unemployment taxes at rates commensurate with claims activities by their employees. New employers start with an unemployment insurance (UI) rate of 3.4% on the first $7,000 of each employee's annual wages.Employers with high unemployment activity pay higher unemployment tax rates, and employers with lower activity pay less. The UI rate is adjusted annually. The employer receives notification in December of the new UI rate effective January 1 of the following year.To answer the question above, any claim filed by a former employee affects the former employer's unemployment experience rating, i.e. UI rate.See the attached Related Link to the EDD's explanation of the California System of Experience Rating.FEDERAL: Federal unemployment insurance (FUTA) is also paid on the first $7,000 of each employee's annual wages. The FUTA rate in 2009 was 6.2% but employers who pay into their state unemployment fund (and most all do) receive a maximum credit of 5.4%, resulting in a FUTA rate of .8% (.008) in 2009.The FUTA rate is fixed and does not change based on the employer's experience rating so an employee unemployment claim does not affect this rate.See the attached Related Link to the IRS Instructions for Form 940 (FUTA.)See the Related Question below for information on Nevada.

What is the definition of price elasticty of demand?

Demand elasticity is how much demand is affected based on a change in price. An elastic good is highly affected by price small chanages. Demand plummets and people substitue for something else. An inelastic good is not affected by any size change in price. Basically, elasticity is a measure of how essential a good is to people. On a supply/demand chart, demand elasticity is measured by the slope of the demand curve. Steeper curves are less elastic. Examples: Gasoline demand is fairly inelastic. Global demand for gasoline changes very little between $1.50 per gallon and $3.00. People buy almost the exact same amount at any price (in the short run). A particular brand of coffee would be fairly elastic. If Folgers and Maxwell House were both selling coffee for $4 a pound demand would be fairly equal (assuming there are no taste differences and brand loyalty). If Folgers raised their price to $4.25, pretty much everyone would buy the Maxwell House, all else being equal.

What are the seven principles of Just Cause?

Was the employee forewarned of the consequences of his or her actions? Are the employer's rules reasonably related to business efficiency and performance the employer might reasonably expect from the employee? Was an effort made before discharge to determine whether the employee was guilty as charged? Was the investigation conducted fairly and objectively? Did the employer obtain substantial evidence of the employee's guilt? Were the rules applied fairly and without discrimination? Was the degree of discipline reasonably related to the seriousness of the employee's offense and the employee's past record?
