If you are like clockwork for having your period should you be concerned that you only have a little bit of black blood in lieu of a period this time?

Not really. I suggest that it is your period. Not all periods are long or heavy some only last a day or two. You don't say if you are on a pill or not. This could make a difference if you have started the pill. If you are young and just started your period it takes time to settle down as well. There are many factors besides pregnancy that can cause a period to be light, heavy, or short.
