The same crossmember should work but it will have to be moved and the driveshaft will also have to be redone.
Trans yoke, length, and possibly the U joints are different.
I believe the same crossmember will work if you move it to fit the tranny on the frame and yes you will definitely need to shorten the driveshaft.
I would never convert a 1967 Impala 4 speed to A/T. It is worth more in 4 speed form. But yes it can be done. You will need the transmission and torque converter with the correct bellhousing. You will need the transmission mount cross member, and more than likely the drive shaft. You will also need a floor shifter which would be easy to purchase. You could fabricate the cross member mount and the drive shaft if need be.
Generic instructions and I'm assuming a 5 speed manual trans... Get a Chiltons or similar manual Block front wheels, raise rear, put jack stands. Raise front and put jack stands to give you some room to work. mark drive line with chalk or paint in relation to the front and rear yokes so you can put back the same for balance reasons.Remove drive line(would be good time to replace "U" joints). Remove bolts from cross member. Remove transmission linkage. Remove bolts holding tranny to bell housing. Use a jack to raise tranny off of the cross member and remove cross memberremove tranny. I'd put a new clutch/pressure plate and have fly wheel turned and put in a new throw-out bearing assembly. Assemble in reverse order, fill tranny with appropriate lubricant.
Most likely a bent part in the tranny.
It will be on the back of the transmission where the drive shaft goes in, and bolted to the cross member
just got through doing it. you beter know what you are doing it takes a lot of work. you have to change k member make a tran. cross member and have a drive shaft cut because the k member moves the motor 2in foward.
pull the drive shaft the trans cross member the trans and its right there
I have A 64 and used a 700R4 Chevy. It is a 4 speed w/ OD. I had to shorten the drive shaft 3 inches ( $80.00) and purchase a new cross member (200.00). I also added a Lokar floor shifter. Same mounting as a TH350 to block.
tranny could be gone.or you may need tranny fluid or you have too much tranny fluid.
have to completely pull tranny and 4 wheel diff.then replace clutch and re-install back in. Not for a novice, may want to leave this one to the tranny man.
change your tranny pan trans filter its easy just ake sure totorc your bolts could be drive line or rear end too
Yes, You may have to change the tranny support and shorten the drive shaft but it will fit.
