We all make mistakes and don't always choose some friends very carefully. He could be going through a stage of his life. It's just as well you split-up while he is going through this. Yes, there is hope, but your best bet is to go out and have fun with your friends and try dating someone else that doesn't treat you so shabbily. By acting independent and letting your ex boyfriend know you aren't going to sit around and moan and groan over him, he may realize he truly misses you and comes back.
