If you have a 2001 Chevy Malibu and when you go to crank it it will not start what could be the problem?
I had the same problem twice----first time it was the fuel pump----$700, second and just this past week, it was the ignition control lockout switch---only $350 to fix that!!! Too many problems with this car.

Please clarify what you mean by "crank up". Do you mean that the engine won't crank when it's cold? If that's the case it might be a battery problem. Sometimes a battery can produce enough current when it's warmer but the temperature drops, the chemical reaction will slow enough that it doesn't make enough current to crank the engine. Yes. I had this problem on a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The problem came without any warning that I could notice. I parked it at night and the next morning it would crank and crank but not start. - I would imagine that his problem could happen gradually if the sensor had a broken lead wire or was gradually failing. In my case it was immediate and complete failure.
