If you have an Xbox 360 can you play online with someone on a ps3?

The below crossed out answer is pure Myth and fantasy, you can not play a PS3 PC or Wii from your Xbox 360 because of so many reasons.

First the games are not compatible and a patch can not make a game compatible or they would not have to sell and carry all the different versions of games in the stores. That is a huge expense for retailers and also for the game distributors who must stock all the different game versions. Retailers must make store shelves available for each different game in spite of the premium cost of retail space. They are often left with an abundance of one consoles games and a shortage for another also adding to there expense.

There is no way you can put the game in your console for a different version and play it so there is no way to actually play them just because you are both able to go online and the name of the game is the same.

What people do not understand is it is only the names of the games that is the same they are made up of software that is not compatible with other versions having the same name. The actual games are not even close to being able to play each other, Even though there is software that lets a PC and a Mac have communication you still can not put a PC game in a Mac using using software designed for PC/MAC compatibility

Second how are you going to get on the PlayStation Network to Play someone on the PS3. Besides the games design the console has been designed to play only on the PlayStation Network and the Xbox 360 only plays on Xbox Live. If you do not pay for your Xbox live you can not go on line and play anyone. The patch would somehow connect the two networks so they could what. Meet in cyberspace and play a video game. It would be a legal matter if you tried to connect the 2 networks without a lincense from both Sony and Microsoft

But if u have an xbox360 (NTSC/J) format (means if its a Japan model) then you can download a japan patch which will be released on the 12th of July 2009, allowing you to be connected to a dual server (two connections) to play ppl online from an xbox360.

Or you wait until its like 2012 then the patch will be in English

so either learn Japanese or wait 3 years...your choice...

No there is no way to link the two networks. If you could everyone would get a ps3 because they are free to play online.
